Dr. Samuel Johnson’s Literary Club celebrated literary day on 19th March 2019 at 10 am in the auditorium. The program started with prayer session invoking God’s blessing followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The Principal Rev. Sr. Velangini addressed the gathering and enlightened the students on how to improve their creativity, imagination and magical thinking. She advised the students to read extensively and be more innovative. Dr. Annie Sunil Campus Coordinator gave the significance of Literature and Literary day and stressed on how such programs serve as a platform to exhibit their innate aesthetic skills she also gave a brief description of the departmental activities. Guest speaker Dr. Jhilam Chattaraj, writer, poet & educator stressed on creative writing, especially poetry to become rich in the mind. Mr. Abhishek Vijay, Film artist, addressed the students on how communication takes place through fine arts. He also highlighted about the various career options in this field. It was followed by the prize distribution to all ML & General English students for the literary competitions held during the regular classes.
The afternoon session began with a guest lecture by Mrs. Joythi Reddy, philanthrophist, teacher and currently CEO of an organisation in the United States of America. A video clip was shown that highlighted how she rose to the highest rung of the ladder from humble beginnings which was indeed motivational and inspirational. A Book exhibition was arranged by various book sellers from the city and more than 100 students and faculty attended and benefitted.
Students exhibited their beautiful paintings and sketches in the Art exhibition. A film ‘Two Brothers’ was shown followed by flash mob by BA ML students and the programme ended with refreshments.
