“Girls don’t lag behind anymore in any field”. This time three girls from Hyderabad studying at St.Pious X Degree and PG College For Women, Nacharam have proved by winning first prizes organised by YRE ( Young Reporters For Environment) SAYEN ( South Asian Youth Environment Network) and FEE (Federation for Environment Education) in “Litter Less” campaign.
This Competition was held at National level and included three categories of different age groups: Article Writing, videography and Photography. There were more than 1500 entries from across India and only 9 students were chosen as winners at different age groups. The winners belonging to 11-14 yrs age group were from Lucknow, the winners belonging to age group 15-18yrs were from Hyderabad and Ahmedabad had the privilege of having winners, age group 19-21 yrs.
The names of winners from Hyderabad were:
- HUMA KHATOON – First prize – Article Writing.
- MARINA JUDY – First prize – Videography
- SYEDA SAMEENA FATIMA – First prize – photography.
MRS. GRACE BEENA PAUL, Head Dept of Zoology, St.Pious X Degree and PG College For Women, NAAC accredited by ‘A’ grade was instrumental in motivating the students, and was awarded an International Certificate of ‘Best Teacher ‘ in Environmental Sustainability and a gift by FEE in collaboration with Wrigley’s and associated with SAYEN,CEE and Paryavaran Mitra. Mrs.Grace beena Paul is Head Dept of Zoology over two decades has a passion towards ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY and was instrumental in motivating students to participate in this programme who is also pursuing Research from the Dept of Zoology Osmania University.
The Award ceremony was held at Lucknow on 27th November 2017. The speakers at the ceremony were Mrs.Madhavi Joshi, Director of SAYEN Mrs.Preethi from CEE Mr.Ratanmanlal- Senior Journalist. Mr.Sagar Suri, CEE played a key role in managing the event, sponsorship of accommodation and travel. The Management, Correspondent and Principal were the tower of support. Indeed it’s a proud moment for the college, Hyderabad, TELANGANA and NATION.
