Date : 4th -7th December, 2017.
Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for better understanding of biological science. It has emerged as one of the most important technology used in the present generation. In the field of Genetics, bioinformatics techniques allow extraction of useful result from large amount of raw data. In the area of genetics and genomics, it aids in sequencing and annotating genomes and their observed mutation.
Bioinformatics involves the integration of computers, software tools, and databases in an effort to address biological questions. The present generation needs to be aware of this technology. In this regard, the Department of Genetics organized a 4 days’ workshop in “BIOINFORMATICS – UNLOCKING THE GENOMIC EVOLUTION” to train the students.
The Resourse Person : Dr.D.Sharada Professor and Mr. G. Shravan Kumar from the Department of Bioinformatics, Osmania University .The workshop began with introductory lectures followed by practical training sessions on the tools used in genomics, proteomics, novel drug designing – BLAST, FASTA, Homology modeling Drug docking and so on.
Bioinformatics tools aids in the comparison of genetics and genomic data in understanding of evolutionary aspects of comparative genomics.
The Target Audience : Final Year Life Science Student.
