In the pursuit of academic excellence, in the beginning of every academic year the IQAC of the college initiates a faculty development programme in the form of staff orientation seminar. This academic year the staff seminar was scheduled on 2nd and 3rd of June, 2017 and the Department of Commerce was given in-charge for the organizing the seminar on 03rd June by IQAC.
In this regards the department invited Miss. Sureka Adimulam , founder and Director of an organization – EPITOME MENTORS to address the staff on the topic “Mentoring” from 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM. The resource person addressed the staff on various aspects of mentoring, mentor- mentee relationship. She also emphasized that Mentoring is about learning – being open to new ideas, plans, and processes. The mentor-mentee relationship focuses on developing the mentee professionally and personally. She explained various issued related to mentoring by giving relevant case studies. Difference between mentoring and counseling was also highlighted. At the end of the session the staff were clear about how mentoring is to be carried out. How as mentor the staff should be available to the students and address the issues brought to they notice
